Last Saturday was a fantastic experience. I’ve published before, a poem in POW Magazine in November, 1997, but this was different.

The excitement and realization of all the work my wife and I have put into Comes The Southern Revolution all rolled into one moment. I’ve published a novel.

I remember all the critique group sessions when we hassled over every paragraph. I remember my wife telling me: “That character wouldn’t do that, say that, or act that way.”

Feeling the support of all who’ve been helping me is quite an experience. It’s like trying to explain how your first kiss felt to someone who’s never been kissed.

Realizing how many have helped get this off the ground makes me more excited about helping others with their projects. I feel obligated to help our fellow authors. That will go a small way in paying back those who’ve helped me.

To that end, I’m a mentor for the California Writer’s Club “Publishing Pathways” website. If you need help in publishing your project, just e-mail me.

    Jim
