Historical Romance Novel, The Winds of Grace

Posted by on October 14, 2012

The Winds of Grace by Marilyn King

High Desert author, Marilyn King, joined “Meet the Authors” at Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Library Saturday, October 13th. Marilyn and I have a thing in common. We both published our books with WinePress Publishing. She recently published her beautiful novel, The Winds of Grace, and I recently published Phantom Seven.

I was able to purchase Marilyn’s book yesterday and have already begun reading it. The setting is 1830′s Jamaica. “Grace Cooper must trust God to help her find acceptance from a father she never knew, fulfillment in a place she’s never been, and safety from those who would rather see her dead. Can she hope to find love as well?”

A note about Marilyn, she is one of the most organized writers that I am acquainted with. Recently, she gave a superb presentation on how to organize and plan when writing a book. She had kept notebooks full of pictures and notes of the era for The Winds of Grace. I was captivated by her informative presentation and would love to see a how-to-write-and-organize-your-book webinar by Marilyn.

The Winds of Grace has already drawn me into its pages of suspense with Grace reeling from her mother’s death as she “ponders her single parent’s final words – a plea for forgiveness.” If you’ve experienced the loss of a mother like I have, you’ll be in tears when you read about Grace’s grief of losing her mother.

It’s been awhile since I had the time to read a novel. But wait a minute. Anybody can make the time to read. It only takes a few minutes at a time, a few pages a day, a chapter or two before falling asleep. So that’s what I’m doing. One positive note about reading a little at a time like this is that the excitement from reading a good book like Marilyn’s lasts a lot longer than if one read the novel at one setting.

After you read this blog, take a moment to visit Marilyn’s interesting website. Purchase her novel for yourself or for a loved one on your Christmas gift list. Enjoy the read!

I am fortunate to be in the same critique group, “The Wordsmiths,” as Marilyn, and have learned so much from her. Her novel is a “must read,” and I can’t wait for her next one to be completed!

It sounds like a great read. I’ll follow up. Thanks for the recommendation.
