The High Desert California Writers Club met at their monthly meeting today at the Newton T. Bass Apple Valley Library from 10 a.m. until noon. But today was a special event of “Meet the Authors” and followed with displays by local authors who were available inside the library from noon until 4 p.m.
Let me introduce you to two of the books and authors included in this special event:
- The Jesuit Papers by A.B. Fowler – Honorable Mention at Los Angeles Book Festival and New York Book Festival
“Kat Hamilton is up to her neck in trouble. While seeking her missing father, a slim lead from a Mayan Calendar rubbing and a mysterious Jesuit priest’s journal send her from an idyllic Paraguayan ranch to the country’s cannibal-infested jungle. Intensifying her pursuit, she encounters intrigue, treachery, ancient prophecy and…unexpected romance. If you liked The DaVinci Code and Romancing the Stone, you’ll love The Jesuit Papers; a harrowing, fast-paced adventure with a jolt of passion that will leave you breathless.”

- Some Like It Hot! The culinary adventures of One Hot Momma and One Cool Dude by Jenny and John Margotta
Jenny Margotta says her book is “a unique approach to a variety of delicious recipes including mouth-watering meatloaf and spaghetti sauces to decadent chocolate cakes, buttery breads and a cheesecake that will practically jump off the plate and slide down your throat all by itself. And even better – each home-tested recipe is presented in two versions. One is delightfully simple for those who don’t like extra spices or calorie-adding toppings. The second variant is “kicked up a notch.”
